Our annual Cultural Day celebration held on 22nd November,2024 and was an interesting one. The cultural day event featured various indigenous ethnic groups like the Igbo’s, Hausa’s, Yoruba’s, Fulani’s, Niger Delta and middle-belt. The event began with a procession of different cultural groups. Pupils, students, teachers and parents paraded in their colourful traditional attires, showcasing the beauty and richness of Nigerian cultural diversity. One of the highlights of the day was the cultural dance. Each cultural group entertained the audience with their traditional dance.

The celebration was heightened by a drama presentation by the southeast cultural group, the crowd was thrilled when the Igbo king and his entourage arrived in an expensive car.

When the various cultural dance display were completed, the ballet club entertained us with a lovely routine in order to represent foreign cultures.

Following the various dance displays, there was a showcase of delicacies from various parts of the country prepared by parents. Some parents took turns speaking about the various delicacies on display and afterwards everyone was invited to taste as much of the delicacies as possible. Some of the delicacies presented include: – bitter leaf soup, oha soup, ukwa, nkwobi, afang soup, ewedu, tuwo, masa, dan wake and many others.

In conclusion, the press club members interviewed a few parents who said they are grateful for the school’s initiative in promoting inter-cultural awareness and respect for other people’s traditions, beliefs, and values.
