On 10th October, 2024, Basic 7 to 9 students and the press club members had the privilege of visiting TVC Communications, one of Nigeria’s leading television networks. The trip aimed to provide students with insight into the broadcasting industry.
Upon arrival at 11:45am, we were warmly received by the station’s staff, who guided us through the facilities. We were divided into first and second batch. The first batch began the tour in the PCR (Production Control Room).
Mr. Ademola, a broadcasting engineer, was our instructor, he told us that the PCR is a place where news and other programmes are being controlled. He went further to say that people needed in every production are the anchors, directors and producers. We observed the control room facilities, such as, the audio and vision mixer, audio monitor, laptops and much more. Questions were asked by the instructor and answers were provided by the students.
The second batch moved into the PCR, while the first batch moved to the waiting room where they had their refreshment. Mr. Ademola continued with his teaching.
Next, we visited the studio, where TVC popular shows are recorded. The setup was impressive, it has a big screen, beautiful cameras and lighting. The beauty of the studio left everyone in awe. We were given the opportunity to try out some of the equipment.
Furthermore, the press club members interviewed Mr. Ademola. We also requested to have an interactive session with the station’s anchor, producer and director. We were told that they were all in a meeting.
Our tour ended at about 1:20pm. Mr. Ademola thanked us for coming, he also commended NCS students for the manner in which they comported themselves and how they answered questions correctly.
The excursion to TVC was informative, engaging and inspiring.
