The competition was organized with the aim to strengthen the verbal skills, descriptive skills, enhance social skills and to foster public speaking competence of the pupils.
It was a world of excitement for the pupils as they had an amazing time with their classmates, teachers and parents.
We had nine (9) participants who spoke on different topics.
First, was Tishe Olabayo who spoke on ‘Water’ as a wonderful gift from God and a friend to all.
She explained the sources and uses of water and finally told everyone to always drink enough water to stay healthy.
The next was Naeemullah Hussaini Halilu who talked about “A pencil”. He explained the meaning of pencil, what is made of, types and uses, where it can be bought.
Ethan Stephen talked about ‘A clock’ as an object which helps us to know and tell time. What a clock can be made of. That clock comes in different colours, sizes and shapes and places where it can be found.
Itotenevesho Jeremy Damisa spoke on his ‘Baby picture’. He said, it reminds him of memories that have shaped his life, the laughter and tears and how it teaches him to cherish life’s fleeting moments.
Jeremy Ovie James Olotu talked about “Apple” as a fruit and why he likes apple. It gives him vitamins that help him stay healthy. Finally, he reminded everyone that an apple a day keeps you away from the doctor.
Ruby Aniemeke spoke on ‘Banana’ she said a banana is a healthy fruit, long and curved, soft and sweet. It can be eaten raw, baked, as smoothies, jam and milkshake. It gives us vitamins and minerals which makes us strong and healthy. It is her favourite fruit.
Yobanna Okoli, spoke about his ‘family picture’ first, his father as a pastor and an IT consultant and how he provides and plays with them. Next is his mother as a financial analyst, and how she cooks delicious food for them. Then, his aunty who goes to a fashion school and also helps his mother. His crush Chidera and his baby sister Yabachi. He loves his family so much.
Patrick Eze, talked about ‘A hen’ as a domestic animal with two eyes, two legs, a beak, feathers on it’s body and two wings that enables it fly up a little above the ground. That, a hen is harmless, and lays the eggs that we eat and those that hatch into chicks. He also identified what they eat.
Finally, we had Tukur Abba who talked about ‘Grapes’. He said that grapes are fruits, they are sweet and help to energize the body. It was an exquisite time for everyone. A priceless memory that will remain for a long time in our minds.
I thank the school management for giving us the platform to showcase the ability and talent of the pupils and the parents/guardians for their support. I want to specially thank the pupils who participated in this competition for their enthusiasm throughout the competition. It was indeed a colourful display of what the pupils can do if encouraged and their potentials enhanced.
Let’s always remember “it’s our collective RESPONSIBILITY”.
